The Home

How many people does Carolina Calm sleep?

Carolina Calm sleeps up to 24 guests in 9 bedrooms with 7.5 bathrooms across three levels (about 4,800 sq ft). It is ideal for multigenerational families, family reunions, and large groups who want to be together while still having their own space.

Can we rent just part of the house?

No. Carolina Calm is rented as an entire home only, so your group has the whole house, pool, and grounds to yourselves.

What are the bedrooms and beds?

• 1st floor: King primary suite with intracoastal waterway views and an ensuite bathroom with jetted tub and rain shower; a bedroom with a queen bed and a bunk bed, with intracoastal water views; and a bedroom with a queen bed
• 2nd floor: Oceanfront primary king suite with balcony, ensuite bath with jetted tub and rain shower; a connecting oceanfront bedroom with a queen Murphy bed; a bedroom with a double bed and a bunk bed, with intracoastal water views; a bedroom with two double beds, with intracoastal water views
• 3rd floor: Two queen bedrooms with deck access and intracoastal water views

What are the views like?

Eight of the nine bedrooms have water views. The 2nd-floor primary king suite and its connecting queen bedroom face the ocean, and the other bedrooms, including the 1st-floor king primary suite, overlook the intracoastal waterway. Watch the sun rise over the Atlantic in the morning and set over the intracoastal in the evening from the wraparound decks.

How is the house laid out?

The 2nd and 3rd floors connect by an interior staircase and form the main gathering space, with a full kitchen, ocean-view dining, a living room, and a wraparound oceanfront deck. The 1st floor is its own private suite with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a full kitchen, living and dining space, and a private entrance. There is no interior stair between the 1st and 2nd floors, which many families appreciate for privacy (for example, grandparents or a family with young children).

Is there an elevator?

Yes. Residential elevators serve the home, so you can reach every level without climbing stairs. Simply close the inner accordion door when you exit so the elevator can be called to other floors.

Is the home wheelchair accessible?

The home is not officially wheelchair accessible or ADA compliant. Some smaller wheelchairs can fit in the residential elevators, but this is not an official accessibility designation. Please contact us before booking to discuss your specific needs.

Beach & Pool

How close is the beach?

Carolina Calm is directly oceanfront. A private walkway leads from the property to the sand, with no streets to cross.

Is the pool private? Is it heated?

Yes, the fenced saltwater pool is private and exclusively for guests of the home. The pool is not heated. It is serviced twice weekly during the warm months, so you may see pool staff briefly. No diving and no glass in the pool area, and use of the pool is at your own risk.

Is beach gear provided?

Beach gear is not provided. Bed linens and bath towels are included, but please bring your own beach and pool towels, chairs, and umbrellas. Local vendors offer beach chair and umbrella rentals with delivery and setup right on the sand.

What else is outside?

A covered poolside tiki bar, a new electric grill with a flat-top griddle, a fire pit (bring your own firewood and check for local burn bans), sun loungers, outdoor dining, two outdoor showers for rinsing off after the beach, and wraparound decks on multiple levels.

Kitchens & Everyday Comforts

What is in the kitchens?

There are two full kitchens, one on the 1st floor and one on the 3rd floor. Together they have gas cooktops, four ovens (including a double oven upstairs), two dishwashers, refrigerators with filtered water and ice makers, Keurig coffee makers, a blender, toasters, pots, pans, baking sheets, and plenty of dishes and wine glasses. The main dining area seats 12, with additional seating at the island and a second table.

Is there WiFi and TV?

Yes. Free WiFi is provided throughout the home. All TVs are smart TVs, so you can stream using your own subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu). Cable TV is not provided.

Is there a washer and dryer?

Yes, there is laundry on the 1st floor and the 2nd floor, with starter detergent pods provided.

Is the home good for babies and young children?

Yes. Two pack-and-plays (please bring your own crib sheets), high chair, booster seat, children's dinnerware, books and toys, bunk beds, and room-darkening shades are available.

Is there parking?

Yes, free covered off-street parking is available on site for up to 13 cars. There is no street parking.

Booking & Policies

When can we book, and what is the minimum stay?

Summer stays (June through August) are booked by the week, Saturday to Saturday. From September through May, the minimum stay is 2 to 3 nights. Summer 2027 weeks are booking now.

Why should I book directly instead of on Airbnb or Vrbo?

Booking directly at www.carolinacalm.com saves you about 15% compared with Airbnb and VRBO, because you avoid their service fees. You also deal directly with the owner, pay through a secure checkout, and can add travel insurance.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you cancel more than 30 days before arrival, 96% of your total booking charges will be refunded. Cancellations within 30 days of arrival are not refundable. Because this is a coastal property, we strongly recommend the travel insurance offered at checkout to protect your trip from the unexpected, including storms.

Are there payment fees?

A 3% processing fee applies to credit card payments.

Is there a minimum age to rent?

Yes. The primary renter must be at least 25 years old. A signed rental agreement is required for all direct bookings.

Are pets allowed?

No. The home is strictly animal-free for documented medical reasons. Under an approved exemption, no animals of any kind, including service animals and emotional support animals, may be brought to the property.

Is smoking allowed?

No. Carolina Calm is 100% smoke-free, inside and outside, including vaping. Real-time smoke monitoring is in place, and a $500 fee applies to any violation, plus the cost of any damage.

Are there quiet hours?

Yes. Please keep noise to a minimum between 10 PM and 8 AM out of respect for our neighbors. Noise monitoring devices and exterior security cameras are in use.

Arrival & Departure

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out are not available, so the home can be fully prepared for every arriving group.

How do we get in?

Check-in is keyless. Your smart lock code is emailed 4 days before arrival and works from 4 PM on arrival day until 10 AM on departure day. You will also receive a digital guest guide with everything you need for your stay.

How far is the airport?

Wilmington International Airport (ILM) is about 30 minutes away by car and offers nonstop service to many U.S. airports.

Where is Carolina Calm located?

Carolina Calm is on the oceanfront at the north end of Carolina Beach, North Carolina, close to restaurants, shops, and the boardwalk while far enough away to stay peaceful. See our map for details.

Where can we get groceries?

A Publix supermarket is about 5 minutes away by car, and the North End Mini Mart is a 5-minute walk for quick essentials and ice.

What is there to do nearby?

Beyond the beach and pool, guests enjoy the Carolina Beach boardwalk, Carolina Beach State Park, Fort Fisher and its historic site, Kure Beach, fishing, surfing, parasailing, boating, and day trips to historic downtown Wilmington.
