November in Carolina Beach: Fall Days, Holiday Lights & Time Together
November is one of those quietly wonderful months at Carolina Beach. The pace slows, the beaches open up, and there is plenty of room for long walks, family dinners, and evenings together by the fire.
And by the end of the month, the island begins its transformation into a coastal holiday destination, complete with markets, lights and visits from Santa.
If you are planning a November getaway to Carolina Calm, here are some of our favorite ways to enjoy the month.
Upcoming Events
🪁 Cape Fear Kite Festival
Date: November 6–8, 2026
Location: Fort Fisher/Kure Beach area
One of the most colorful weekends of fall takes place just down the island when giant kites, stunt kites and whimsical creations fill the sky during the Cape Fear Kite Festival.
This is an especially easy multigenerational outing: bring chairs or a blanket, settle onto the sand and let everyone enjoy the spectacle at their own pace. The Wilmington & Beaches fall calendar confirms the festival for November 6–8 this year.
🛍️ Kure Beach Holiday Market
Dates: November 21 & November 28, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Location: Kure Beach Ocean Front Park & Pavilion
Holiday shopping feels a little different when you're doing it beside the Atlantic.
Browse handcrafted art, gifts and creations from local makers while enjoying ocean views, food trucks and music. Admission is free, and the market is just a short drive down the island from Carolina Calm.
🦃 Thanksgiving at the Beach
Date: Thursday, November 26, 2026
Not every memorable November activity needs an itinerary.
Thanksgiving at Carolina Calm offers something that can be difficult to find when a large family gathers: enough room to actually be together and enough room to spread out.
With two full kitchens, generous dining and living spaces and the Atlantic just outside, you can cook together, divide up meal preparation, take a post-dinner beach walk and come back for dessert without everyone being crowded into one room.
✨ Island of Lights: Lighting at the Lake
Date: Friday, November 27, 2026
Location: Carolina Beach Lake Park
The holiday season officially begins in Carolina Beach with the beloved Island of Lights: Lighting at the Lake.
The lake becomes a festive centerpiece for the island, glowing with holiday lights and decorations and creating a fun evening outing for children, grandparents and everyone in between. The 2026 celebration is scheduled for the Friday immediately after Thanksgiving.
🎅 Santa by the Sea
Beginning: November 28, 2026
Location: Carolina Beach Lake Park
Santa arrives coastal-style!
Santa by the Sea begins November 28 and continues on selected dates into December at Carolina Beach Lake Park. It's an easy way to add a little holiday magic to a Thanksgiving-weekend beach getaway—especially if younger members of the family are along.
🌊 Off-Season Beach Time
Throughout November
November is also one of our favorite times simply to enjoy Carolina Beach itself.
The air is cooler, the shoreline is quieter and there is room for an unhurried morning walk, shell collecting with the kids or coffee overlooking the Atlantic. Dogs on leash are also permitted on Carolina Beach throughout the day during the off-season, October 1 through March 31.
Your Stay at Carolina Calm
November is made for gathering.
At Carolina Calm, multigenerational families and groups can spend time together without sacrificing privacy or personal space. Nine bedrooms give everyone somewhere to retreat, while two complete kitchens and multiple dining and living areas give you room for shared meals, games, conversations and celebrations.
Step outside and the ocean is right there—no packing the car and no crossing the street. And after a day exploring the island, there is something especially good about returning home to the firepit, tiki bar and sound of the waves.
A November Home Base by the Sea
November invites us to do something increasingly rare: slow down.
Stay at the table a little longer. Walk the beach without watching the clock. Watch cousins reconnect, grandparents tell stories and friends finally have time to catch up.
Whether you're gathering for Thanksgiving, beginning the holiday season or simply stealing a long weekend before December gets busy, Carolina Calm gives everyone room to come together—and room to breathe.
